Balance Bike Review and GIVEAWAY

The Chaos Twins are on the move! Our big reward for each munchkin becoming potty trained was a big kid bicycle.  We started with LittleMiss last year, and she was rewarded with her girlie pink princess bike complete with wobbly training wheels.  And you know what?  Everytime the bike wobbles she freaks out.  Her balance is iffy and she really is afraid of falling.  So it’s been an uphill battle with her to get her to ride for longer than 2 minutes. 
Needless too say, when it came time for SpacePirate to get a bike, I was pretty apprehensive.  I didn’t think I could manage the fight that our daily walks/rides had become with two doing the same thing.

The Boot Scoot ships free via UPS, arrived quickly and was fairly easy to assemble.  Our only minor complaint was that the assembly instructions didn’t have any pictures or diagrams, but there are only a few parts so it was easy to figure out where things went. 

As soon as the Boot Scoot was assembled the Chaos Twins were off.  We let LittleMiss have a go on it first, in the hopes of giving her some confidence on her own traditional bike.  It worked!  After giving the Boot Scoot to her little brother, she hopped right onto her bike and rode completely around the block without stopping!

I had a hard time keeping up with her on foot!  This means I might just get to ride my bike with both kids riding their own very soon.  I can’t wait!
SpacePirate was very excited about his new “bike scooter” and just seemed to know what to do before we could help him.  We took off around the block (between snowflake flurries) and before long he was kicking off and saying “Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” while balancing!  He had so much fun!

What exactly is a Balance Bike Trainer and How Does it Work?

A balance bike is a regular kid bike that has the pedals removed. They are not made for older children who already know how to ride a bike. They are meant to help children 1 year old or older to learn how to balance a bike without having them to worry about pedaling the bike.
